Stirring

I recently lost my job.  :-(

So as I am wont to do when I find myself unemployed, I turn to AOS to make yet another push to get it going.  Most of the time, I get caught up in the job search or some other distraction.  This time feels different to me though.  I REALLY liked my day job.  I was committed so much that working overtime was just what needed to be done at times.  Being laid off was very hard.  It was like ripping a part of me away.  I am not sure how much I want to work for anyone else anymore.  I *AM* looking for a job and intend to stay on for a year or so at the minimum, but I am hoping I might be able to score an alternative.

What I have chosen to do is to seek independent contracting work.  Not just in my long areas of expertise, such as Windows, Web and Mac development, but also in specifically porting Windows and Linux apps to Mac OS X.

A competitor of my former employer is looking for a Senior Mac Dev.  I am seeking release from my non-compete so I can begin to work and live life on *MY* terms.

At the same time, I am about to recruit 5 or so other developers to join me at AOS to bring Slate, the long waiting academic operations system I invented in January 2000, to market.

For those of you who visit this blog online, as opposed to via a feed reader, you may have noticed the new design.  I felt the time was ripe for a new look! If you ARE using a feed reader, come visit AOS online!

The beast is stirring...
