Naming a product is an art. Sometimes it is obvious, sometimes it is not. One way to name a product is to use words from another language. In this case, the language is Hawaiian. It took some time to find a word that meant "to work" that sounded good to our ears, but that is how we found Hana. We like it a lot.
Since Hana is NOT a web browser, but a web focuser or web worker, we wanted a name that broke with being called a browser. We chose Hawai'ian for a number of reasons. First, it is a nice short name. Second, Hana is a beautiful place and we look forward to returning in the future. Hana is also a beautiful town on the eastern coast of Maui.
Coincidentally, Hana is also a Japanese word. Our research shows it to mean blossom or flower. We chose the Hibiscus blossom for the Hana icon from a free-ware icon library but could not license it from the owner. So we created our very own in our company colors!
